Ridgemill Estate’s cool-climate wines take pride of place at Parliament’s table as our winery of the season.

From Granite to Glass

Ridgemill Estate, established in 2004, was the most recent winery of the season at Queensland Parliament’s Strangers’ Restaurant. From Queensland’s Granite Belt, one of the highest altitude wine regions in Australia, Ridgemill Estate draws on cool nights, granite soils and sunshine 840m above sea level. The result is wines full of character and expressive flavour.

The Granite Belt is an officially recognised wine producing region with its own GI (Geographical Indication). A GI identifies a product’s origin and ensures that its authenticity and quality are tied to that location. Ridgemill Estate’s boutique philosophy allows the natural character of Granite Belt grapes to shine. With minimal intervention, the distinct terroir of the region is expressed in every glass.

Perfect Match for Parliament

Strangers’ Restaurant is a proud home to ingredients and produce from across Queensland, and the wine selection is no exception. Seasonal wines are selected intentionally to champion different flavours from across the state, and accompany the dishes created in the kitchen to enhance the flavour experience. Expertly paired alongside hero dishes like the Braised Black angus beef cheek, Ridgemill Estate’s bolder flavours like the Saperavi were on display alongside classics like the Shiraz and Chardonnay.

Ridgemill Estate’s commitment to producing wines of exceptional quality, elegance, and finesse is in perfect harmony with Strangers’ restaurant’s promise to tantalise your palate and leave a lasting impression.
