Queensland Parliament was proud to once again support and host Challenge DV’s annual Darkness to Daylight event, welcoming thousands of participants to Parliament House in support of raising awareness and funds to help prevent domestic and family violence.

Shining a light on domestic and family violence
Now in its 13th year, the event was held on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 June 2026.
Darkness to Daylight raises funds and awareness for the prevention of domestic and family violence. According to Challenge DV, an average of 110 people lose their lives to domestic and family violence in Australia each year. The event’s signature 110-kilometre course symbolises each of those lives lost, while participants can also choose to complete 10 kilometres or 3 kilometres, ensuring people of all fitness levels can take part.
This year, 2,469 participants from 133 teams came together to support the cause, with participation increasing by nearly 10% compared with 2025. Together they have already raised more than $279,000, with fundraising remaining open until the end of July.

Proud sponsor and host
As an official sponsor and host, Queensland Parliament welcomed thousands of runners and walkers to Parliament House in the early hours of the morning for both the start and finish of the event. The event brought the community together to raise awareness of domestic and family violence while supporting the work of Challenge DV.

Queensland Parliament Dining supports the cause
Queensland Parliament Dining was pleased to contribute prizes in recognition of the incredible fundraising efforts of participants. Everyone who raises $50 or more before the end of July will go into the draw to win a range of fantastic prizes, including a High Tea for two at Queensland Parliament, valued at $130, and a five-course tasting experience for two at Strangers’ Restaurant, valued at $260.

Every step makes a difference
Whether participants walked 3 kilometres, ran 10 kilometres or completed the full 110-kilometre challenge, every step helps raise awareness and supports initiatives working to end domestic and family violence.
