Melbourne Cup returns to Queensland Parliament House

Tickets are now on sale for a race-day celebration in one of Brisbane’s most iconic and historic venues.

Strangers’ Restaurant at Queensland Parliament House will once again open its doors for Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 3 November, inviting guests to enjoy an afternoon of refined food, fashion and festivities in the heart of Brisbane.

Following a sold-out event last year, the Melbourne Cup luncheon will return with a chef-curated menu showcasing Queensland’s finest seasonal produce, including chef snacks, entrée and main course, followed by an impressive dessert station.

Guests can begin the celebrations at Lucinda Bar from 11.30am before taking their seats in Strangers’ Restaurant for the 12-noon start.

The race-day experience will include a live broadcast of the Melbourne Cup, sweepstakes, a best-dressed competition and lucky door prize.

The Melbourne Cup luncheon is $139 per person, with guests enjoying a chef-curated menu and all the race-day festivities. A four-hour beverage package can be added for $75 per person.

Strangers’ Restaurant offers a race-day setting unlike anywhere else in Brisbane. Once the Members’ Dining Room and reserved for Members of Parliament and their guests, the historic space now welcomes the wider community to experience Queensland Parliament’s heritage and hospitality.

Guests are encouraged to dress in their race-day finest and enjoy the excitement of Melbourne Cup Day surrounded by the history and grandeur of Parliament House.
